I am a good person (II)

Hi. My name is mecenas. I just thought this was the best to take over and tell you a bit about the issues that me and my associates were having, so you can see that we really never meant any harm. Jay and me are quite good friends now, and he's allowed me to add these small words.

First of all, you may have already realized this, but I am actually also Emma. There was never any bodyguard, just the sheer necessity of knowing what and we were dealing with. We only knew Jay from his online activity and that can be deceiving.
Allow me to speak about Aliya, first of all. Aliya became my friend and lover right after we met. She wasn't very smart, but she was incredibly hot and she could do some pretty amazing things. However, the best of her abilities was that of deceit. She was like a sly snake, moving and acting like she had no idea what was going on around her, while from the beginning she was planning on betraying me. Aliya was the kind of woman that makes it easy for you to fall in love with her, and she used me while making me believe I was actually using her.
We had worked really hard on our lenses and blips. This was cheap tech actually, mostly because we had some clever guys working with us. Everyone could have come up with this idea but we did, and we wanted to patent it. Then things got ugly. A couple of guys started talking about techno-socialism and the great amount we could do by turning our government into a technological power. These guys actually intended to give all of our work to our beloved leaders so they could get a seat as technical advisers in our glorious future. Bullshit propaganda.

Of course I had other plans. The nice thing about intelligent people, even engineers, is that they are usually smart. So the best of us escaped the country with everything we needed, and we thought about how to start our small business and expand just by being cutting-edge. And then, Aliya, who I had brought with me believing I was in love with her, escaped and took some vital info with her, lured by promises of more money and more power. We soon found out who she was hanging out with and some quick checking revealed that, lucky for us, I had some connections to someone on the family of the mobster that was protecting our little runaway girl.
This was incredibly easy to track. It seems like people in our country had no need for privacy, as they took it for granted. We came from a pretty oppressive regime, and it was funny seeing that these people who thought that our Big Brother-like brand of government funded control was bad and abhorrent, had no issues with the concept of exposing themselves via Facebook. So we found Jay and within a few days we knew everything we needed to know about him, and decided he could help us to get Aliya back and take us to his brother.
Yes, coercion was used. Yes, we attempted to use fear. Yes, we did blow up Jay's apartment, though we made sure no one would be hurt. We didn't want our tech to be used by anyone who wasn't us. We were planning on making the whole thing open-source if it didn't work out, but we really, really wanted to get rich. Out of personal reasons, I also wanted to kill Aliya, but that's just another story.

Truth be told, we would have never hurt Wendy or anybody else, but I needed to use Jay to get to his brother.
